The Wall of Pain

Updated: Aug 26, 2020

This is an excerpt from one of Chuck Dixon's Levon Cade books. He describes the wall of pain.

It was something athletes and soldiers faced. It was your body telling you to quit. Your brain telling you that you were pushing too hard. Your muscles screaming for you to stop. But the wall wasn't really a wall. It was a gateway. And once you were through it the pain melted away and your muscles flooded with blood and your brain with a chemical that made you feel like it was your birthday and Christmas all in one. All you had to do was push for that gate to a world of euphoria on the other side.

Remind you of something?

Romans 5:3-5 "Not only that, but we rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance, and endurance produces character, and character produces hope, and hope does not put us to shame, because God's love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us."

This mention of a gateway is what really struck me. Never thought of it that way before. I'm also reminded of James "Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything". A gateway. Let perseverance finish it's work. What will you be like after you quit porn, stopped bitching, built something, become a better father?

Just something to think about.
